Help Ban Animal Testing NOW!!We are asking you to sign our petition, to ban animal testing, that we will be sending to: The United States Secretary of Health, Xavier Becerra, and The Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services, Andrea Palm. They directly oversee the agencies responsible for approval, oversight and administration of animal testing.Guardians of Rescue is actively rescuing animals from laboratory testing. Most of these animals would have been put down once they were no longer needed after living a life of suffering.

We are asking for your financial support to allowing us to save these animals and provide them with the medial and emotional support they need to thrive living in a forever home, not a laboratory cage.

Based on The United States Department of Agriculture report, nearly 780,000 animals were used in regulated laboratory activities in the United States in 2018 alone. Horrifically approximately 56,000 of these animals were tortured in experiments inflicting pain or distress on them, but did not provide pain-relieving drugs or treatments. Additionally, there are over 135,000 which were kept in research facilities, many times in horrible conditions.

The Public Health Service, or PHS, oversees the two federal agencies doing the most testing on animals: the Food and Drug Administration (the FDA), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (the CDC). The United States Department of Agriculture, or USDA, is the federal agency responsible for overseeing and inspecting laboratories that experiment on animals, as well as those who breed and sell animals for use in laboratories.

We are asking you to sign our petition, to ban animal testing, that we will be sending to: The Public Health Service, the Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control, the United States Department of Agriculture, and key members of the House and Senate. We are also asking them to support, H.R. 6207 – Humane Cosmetics Act of 2021, and S. 3357 - Humane Cosmetics Act of 2021

A study published in The Journal of the American Medical Association found that medical treatments developed in animals rarely translate to humans and that practitioners in the field of medicine rarely prescribe treatments solely on the basis of animal experimentation. These tests are there for unproductive and unnecessary.

The Animal Welfare Act, or AWA, is a federal law that addresses the standard of care animals receive at research facilities. This law excludes roughly 95 percent of the animals tested upon—such as rats, mice, birds, fish, and reptiles—and provides only minimal protections for the rest. Labs are not required to report non-AWA protected animals.

Currently, there are as few as 100 USDA inspectors to oversee more than 9,000 facilities. Approximately 1,200 of which are animal experimentation labs. This leaves little oversight to help protect these animals with the very few legal protections that exist.
